When starting a campaign, everyone is a Runaway Apprentice until another class has been unlocked.
All other classes may only be chosen (at character creation) if they have been unlocked.
When anyone in the party | This class is unlocked |

assassinates someone of importance and collects payment | Assassin |
murders on a whim and get away with it | Blackguard |
steals a guarded object(s) of significant value without a fight | Burglar |
pulls off a big con without victims discovering your deception | Con Artist |
wins a duel | Duelist |
levels up a henchman or hireling | Fighter |
does something cool with a gun | Gunner |
levels a light-bearing urchin | Lightbearer |
excavates or constructs something substantial underground | Miner |
pickpockets something of significant advantage/value | Pilferer |
brings a captured 3 HD monster back to a settlement | Ranger |
crafts something clever | Rigger |
gains admittance to secret society (perhaps a college) by providing a valuable secret | Scholar |
joins a criminal organization | Scoundrel |
births/seeds a supernatural child | Sorcerer |
sells their soul (to someone who can actually collect it) | Warlock |
kills a witch or steals a witch's spellbook | Witch |
kills a wizard or steals a wizard's spellbook | Wizard |
If you're not sure if your plan will unlock a class, ask the Referee before you try it.
