District heating
It is possible to model a heat network (or district heating) in ETMoses. Connecting households to this heat network is done by adding a number of Households space heater district heating or Households water heater district heating to the technology matrix. As with all space or water heating technologies, these heat network connections need to be connected to a buffer (see buffers for more details). The research behind the cost of a heat network connection can be found in this spreadsheet.
The underlying infrastructure can be detailed elsewhere and is described in the heat network section. That section also details the sources that can feed the heat network. For completeness, we repeat the research behind those sources here. The default parameters are based on research by Quintel and Alliander and can be found by following the links below. Note that for the three types of CHPs all marginal costs will be assigned to the heat production as it is assumed that they cannot necessarily sell the electricity they produce.
