Coomassie staining protocol

From Studier, F., Protein Expression and Purification, 1995, this is the quick way to stain a gel.
Solutions
- Stain solution 1: 50% EtOH, 10% acetic acid
- Stain solution 2: 5% ethanol, 7.5% acetic acid
- Coomassie stock solution: 0.25% Coomassie brilliant blue R250 in 95% ethanol
Protocol
- Place gel in 50ml of Stain solution 1, microwave for 25 sec.
- Rock at 4°C for 10 min
- Place gel in 50ml of Stain solution 2, add 250ul Coomassie, microwave for 35 sec.
- Rock at 4°C for 1 hour, or refrigerate overnight.
