ERPLAB Studio Panels: EEGLAB ICA

David Railton Garrett edited this page Apr 15, 2024 · 1 revision

The EEGLAB ICA panel in the EEG tab allows you to access the most widely used ICA tools from EEGLAB. When you click the button for a tool, the EEGLAB GUI for that tool will be launched. Because these tools use EEGLAB’s code, they can operate on only a single dataset (and will be grayed out if you have multiple datasets selected). See the EEGLAB Wiki for details about these tools, and see the ERPLAB Studio Tutorial on Artifact Correction to see an example of how these tools can combined together with real data.

The Decompose data button is used to compute the ICA weights for a given EEGset. Note that the other buttons will be inactive for EEGsets that have not had ICA weights computed.

The Inspect/label ICs button is used to view the scalp maps and frequency content of each independent component (IC). The Classify IC by ICLabel button is used to apply the ICLabel algorithm, which attempts to determine whether a given IC reflects brain activity or an artifact.

The panel also includes a Transfer ICA Weights section that allows you to quickly transfer the weights from one dataset to another.

The Remove ICs button is used to remove the artifactual ICs from the selected EEGset.
