April 2020

My earliest "real" setup consisted of a total of seven devices. I used a single 120mm case fan for cooling. The case fan was powered directly off of an HP desktop which hosted my original MAD setup.

All of the devices were x96 Minis (which do not include functional heatsinks when shucked), so I cemented on my own heat sinks. I knew I would end up adding a lot more devices so I abandoned the factory power bricks early on and ponied up to the 60A Mean Well 5v Power Supply. I had the "smart" idea at the time to use these pre-built "self resetting" circuit protection boards from AliExpress for power distribution; however, that turned out to be a big fail.
