The logo-name combination "skype" is a registered trademark.
This project is not infringing this trademark, since no software is created, which could be confused with the "skype" client. With the project name "OpenSkype" we are expressing, that we are "opening up" the Skype client and take a look "under the hood", because this is necessary to allow other VoIP clients, like Ekiga or Linphone to interoperate with (make a call to) a Skype client. Also, the prefix "Open" indicates, that Open Source software results from this project.
The usage of the term "Skype" in the project name is justified, since we are analyzing this specific software and no other.
The sources provided in this project are (mostly) self-programmed, thus we are not infringing any Skype copyrights.
The software in skype_rc4.c is programmed/provided by Sean O'Neil. The underlying algorithm itself is not subject to copyright protection, since it is just a "mathematical function", which expands a 4 bytes RC4 key to 80 bytes without doing any "magic".
Gaining this algorithm by decompiling Skype binaries is legal in the US, Germany and other countries, since knowing this "mathematical function" is required to enable interoperability with other software.
