Ну в том то и суть, что "инфекция" - это чисто медицинское, а заражение может быть и как для болезни ("я заразился простудой"), так и для заражений паразитами ("дом заражен тараканами"). Если есть другое слово для этих "тараканов", то я не смог вспомнить
