I was actually working on trying to get open-vm-tools working as a system extension when I had seen these commits this morning by chance. This would be way easier than what I was trying to accomplish. As this repo stands now, I was able to successfully create an extension which I have tested in a custom ova. Not sure about documentation but its just a matter of adding the extension as you would any other. I'll leave my commit for reference. |

After merging @bnason's PR to make talos-vmtoolsd run as a system extension, some more work is needed before we can release it:
