A breadboard is used to prototype electric circuits. Components placed can be added to, removed from, or rearranged on the breadboard easily.

Photoresistors

alt text

Photoresistors are light-sensitive resistors. Their resistance decreases as ambient light intensity increases.

Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs)

alt text

LEDs are semiconductor light sources. LEDs are polarized which mean they have two leads. The longer lead is the anode (+) and the shorter lead is the cathode (-). An LED must be connected to a resistor in order to protect the LED from overheating.
