While I wasn't able to fully reproduce the state @jbonisteel was seeing, this PR helps with fixing a couple of weird states that could happen when something went wrong with auto-run.
The easiest way to test is during background auto-run, with uploads missing. I usually drop the initial delay on the Android auto-run config, and disable and re-enable auto-run to trigger a new run.
