Geth Discv5 P2P Analysis and Testing

Problem to Solve

Since Geth 1.14.9 discv5 has now been enabled by default on nodes. Geth will attempt to use discv5 if it can or fallback to discv4. We need to do some P2P analysis and testing to ensure that Discv5 is working as expected in our nodes and will not have any unexpected effects.

Proposed Solution

• Analyze and compare both protocols disv4 and discv5.
• Document findings.
• If any unexpected behavior is detected create issues to address.
