Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
This issue relates to the growing complexity of the Lidar result data. The current implementation of both lidar result retrieval and publishing is outdated and broken (see #719). It also makes it hard to add new, optional features (see #713 and #737).

Describe the solution you'd like
A new design of the raycast results handling should be designed and implemented.
