Importing from other applications
Watcher has the ability to import your library from external applications. While Watcher offers the ability to import a directory of files, it is often quicker to import from another application.
To start an import, click on the Import Existing Library
button at the bottom of your Status
page.
Importing has been tested on Kodi 17 Krypton. Older versions may be compatible but are untested.
No preparation is necessary for a Kodi import. Simply enter your Kodi server information and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note that Kodi does not provide file sizes. Therefore, imitation search results for imported items will show a size of 0.
Importing a library via Plex is possible with the ExportTools channel.
Install ExportTools according to the ExportTools Wiki. Set the Output Format
to CSV
and the Movie Export Level
to Level 5
. Save the configuration and export a CSV of your movie library.
In Watcher, upload this .CSV
file and follow the on-screen instructions. Multiple libraries may be imported -- duplicate movies will be ignored.
Watcher can import a local directory of movies as well. The key to a successful scan is properly named files. Each filename should have at least the Title
and Year
of the movie. If your movies are in sub-folders make sure scan recursively
is checked.
Watcher will then scan the directory for media files and display a report. During this process, Watcher will read the header of the movie files to determine data such as audio and video codecs, resolution, and size. Keep this in mind if you are unable to rapidly read a large number of files in a short amount of time (ie Google Drive hosting).
If Watcher was unable to determine the IMDB id or resolution of the movie you will be asked to supply this information manually.
