Printed Circuit Board

In order to reduce the size of the overall digital dash the development team has designed a smaller circuit board that houses the necessary components of an Arduino Due. The custom printed circuit board (PCB) contains the components for the ATSAM3X processor to function as well as the connections needed to interface with the VMS car. See below for a rendering of the custom PCB from OSH Park.

Bill of Materials

A bill of materials has been put together for the printed circuit board. The total cost of the parts is $44.46 per board.

Enclosure

The enclosure has been laser cut out of acrylic in the electronics prototyping lab of Portland State University. The acrylic used was 1/4” for the first layer and 1/8” on the second layer with a bamboo bezel for some added flair. Thick acrylic was used to improve rigidity, robustness and to increase water resistivity.
