Release Notes for v1.0.7-fork.4

This release focuses on refining and cleaning up some aspects of the project.

Key Changes in v1.0.7-fork.4:

  • Console Error Reporting Removed: 🔇 We've removed the console error reporting feature.
  • About Button Reverted: ↩️ The "About" button now correctly redirects to the original repository.
  • License Cleanup: 📝 Removed the forker as a contributor in the project's license.

Important Note Regarding Updater:

⚠️ Due to changes required to remove the console error reporting, the automatic updater's functionality is currently unconfirmed. We will be able to fully test and verify the updater's behavior in the next release. In the meantime, please manually check for updates.

Previous Updates (v1.0.7-fork.3):

  • Keybinding Fix: ⌨️ Resolved an issue where setting keybindings wasn't working as expected.

Previous Updates (v1.0.7-fork.2):

  • Security Enhanced: 🛡️ Removed a previously added web security attribute.
  • Update Checker: 🔄 A new "Check for Updates" button in the system tray lets you manually trigger an update to the app (not fully tested until next release).

Installation Instructions

Mac:

  1. Download Gemini-Desktop-1.0.7-fork.4-arm64.dmg or Gemini-Desktop-1.0.7-fork.4-arm64-mac.zip.
  2. If you downloaded the .dmg file, open it and drag the Gemini Desktop app to your Applications folder.
  3. If you downloaded the .zip file, unzip it and drag the app to your Applications folder.

Windows:

  1. Download Gemini-Desktop-Setup-1.0.7-fork.4.exe or Gemini-Desktop-1.0.7-fork.4-win.zip.
  2. If you downloaded the .exe file, run it.
  3. If you downloaded the .zip file, unzip it and run the Gemini-Desktop.exe file.

Linux:

  1. Download the appropriate file for your distribution:
    • Gemini-Desktop-1.0.7-fork.4.AppImage (most distributions)
    • gemini-desktop-1.0.7-fork.4.x86_64.rpm (RPM-based distributions)
    • gemini-desktop_1.0.7-fork.4_amd64.deb (Debian-based distributions)
  2. If necessary, make the file executable (e.g., chmod +x Gemini-Desktop-1.0.7-fork.4.AppImage).
  3. Run the file.

Note: The Mac builds are currently untested. Please report any issues you encounter.
