Over time we will post FAQs here that will hopefully help users get the most out of their dome and the control software.
Updating the firmware is sometimes necessary, but is inherently risky because a failed update can leave the system unusable ("bricked"). Arduinos are fairly robust but nevertheless it is best to treat updating the firmware like cleaning your primary mirror: don't do it unless it is really necessary, and even then be very careful.
Downgrading firmware to a previous version is not supported. If you do this, you may corrupt your settings or cause worse issues, which may persist even if you then subsequently re-install a later version. Therefore downgrading is not supported under any curcumstances.
If you are trying to troubleshoot a problem, don't try to do this by downgrading the firmware or reinstalling the software of firmware. Uninstalling and reinstalling software almost never fixes a problem and sometimes introduces secondary problems that muddy the waters, so please don't use this as a troubleshooting step.
