This wiki documents the processes involved in this organisation.
Every one is free to fork and clone the repositories, and then submit pull requests. The maintainers will then review the changes, and merge at their discretion. Each project may have their own variations and differences of process that needs to be followed.
If you wish to maintain or collaborate on one of the projects, you can request to be invited as a collaborator by the organisation admins. One way to contact the admins is to open an issue in this repository. It is recommended to only give such access to people who have previously demonstrated that they can contribute to Netty or Netty Contrib.
No one is required to use this organisation for creating projects that extend the functionality of Netty. However, doing so help discoverability and encourage more collaboration.
To add a new project, you must first become a maintainer. Once you are a maintainer, you will be able to create new public repositories.
You can create new projects from scratch, or you can use the template repositories.
The templates allow you to release new projects under the io.netty.contrib Maven group-id.
It is also fine to use a different group-id and a different release process.
