Just added (and needs application software to confirm it is working) is Data Integrity Validation. The SCSI documentation refers to Logical Block Protection. – i.e. Application adds a 4byte checksum to the end of the data block before writing the block to the tape.
The tape (scsi target) checks the checksum of the data before writing to media (and in the reverse on reading data).
This should validate the data has passed from the application across the SCSI path and arrived at the target unaltered.
Two checksum algorithms can be used – Reed-Solomon CRC and CRC32C (Castagnoli)
Enjoy
