Caution: Upgrades are not well tested and may cause problems.

Recommendations

Always use a test environment to test the upgrade before.
If possible set up a new environment where you can do the upgrade. If upgrade was successful then switch over to the new environment.

Upgrade Paths

 3.4_d ----> 3.4_d
 4.0_b ----> 3.4_d
 4.2_b ----> 3.4_d

Other paths may work, but not known.
