Markdown

Markdown is GitHub's formatting language for documentation. A Markdown page can be converted to HTML code. Thus, Markdown allows authors to focus on the content without cluttering the source file with HTML tags.

Markdown files can also contain HTML code or a mixture of Markdown formatted text and HTML code. This is useful for custom solutions or elements which should be shown on the Web page.
