Organizations, projects, products

Let's take Envirofit as an example:

  • Organization = parent company (Envirofit International LLC)
  • Project = brand name / name under which the initiative is best known (Envirofit)
  • Products = it would be too time consuming to create a record for each actual product (20+). Take only the best seller in each product range (Envirofit Lighting solutions, Envirofit Cookstoves solutions).

Prices

If several models are available, indicate average price for the family-size basic model. If prices varies from country to country (e.g. Wonderbag that is sold in South Africa but also in the UK), indicate average price in developing countries.

Subsidiaries

We have to ignore them for now, provided the mother company aggregates the group's results.

Find an existing project

The interface doesn't have a search feature (yet). To find an individual you already started, just go to http://www.detective.io/energy/contribute and start typing its name. You will see it appear in the drop-down list.

What's a distribution?

A Distribution describes the fact of products being sold or given. Often, in reports or press releases, your will read that "Company X distributed 1,000 pieces of its Y product in countries A, B and C" rather than clean and structured information.

You may create several Distribution items for the same product if you have disagreggated figures (for different years, different countries, etc).

  • Type of distribution: The type of distribution can be Sold at market price, Sold at subsidized price, Donated. If the product is sold with credit facility, or leased, please only consider if the customer will end up paying full price or subsidized price.
  • Value : Number of units
  • Year : In case of a period of time spanning several years, indicate the starting year.

Fundraising rounds

  • Type of transaction : Equity / Investment, In Kind, Donation / Subsidy, Loan, other.
