Validators connections linger for 6 hours after Consensus Group

The number of connections/sessions that a validator has naturally peaks while the validator is in consensus group as hotspots and other nodes attempt to submit transactions. However, it appears that some connections are lingering around for 6 hours before dropping back off. Perhaps this is expected. However I am filing this in case there is an opportunity to tune/optimize as it also appears that it is causing connections to go up by ~100 sessions for each consecutive CG a validator is in.

The below is a screen showing a validator that was in CG starting just before 6:00. After leaving CG around 07:00, the count of sessions remain relatively high (~250) until just before 12:00 and then tapper off over the following hour back to nealy the pre-CG levels.
