Fixes the compilation issue mentioned in #57 so you don't have to use a specific gcc-version (e.g gcc-9)
Compilation error was with multiple definitions of certain variables (e.g multiple definition of
nItemIndex), so I added the-fcommonflag to the gcc compiler flags.https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Code-Gen-Options.html
