FAQ

I want to use a non-default SSH port

Add a section for the host in .ssh/config. See the Port option in ssh_config(5) for details.

Platform Support

rsbackup is primarily developed on Debian Linux. The following pages discuss building it on other platforms:

I half-heartedly try to keep the build system independent of Bash but sometimes the poor behaviour of other shells means Bash dependencies persist for a while.

Future Directions

Concurrency

The only remaining concurrency issue is concurrency within a single host, issue #58. Backing up a given volume twice concurrently to a single device seems like it might actually make some sense, essentially sharing read IO between the two backups. However I have no firm plans about this.

Deprecation Policy

Where practical I keep compatibility for at least 2 years after a release advertising a future compatibility break.
