Adbot Guide

Adbot lives in &ads, where you can speak commands to manage your own ad campaign. Your ad campaign consists of any number of creatives, which are just names attached to messages. You can then broadcast your creatives as messages to the site by configuring spends. A spend specifies a maximum bid for displaying one of your creatives in response to a set of target keywords. The better targeted your spend is, the more competitive your bid will be, allowing you to undercut more poorly targeted campaigns even if you have a smaller budget.

Let's go through an example to see this in action:

!creative example Join &ads and receive a free $100 credit toward your campaign today!

This creates a creative named example, which can be referred to by the !spend command:

!spend up to $10 on example ad adbot campaign credit

This configures a spend for the example creative. It targets messages spoken in rooms where Adbot lurks containing any of the keywords example, ad, etc. The more target keywords a message matches, the stronger your bid will be when compared to other campaigns, thus lowering your Cost Per Impression (CPI).

There can only be one spend per creative, so you can change your spend strategy by issuing a new !spend command for the same creative. You can also cancel a spend with the !cancel command:

!cancel example

You can also delete the creative:

!delete example

There are also a number of informational commands available.

  • !balance: see how much credit you have to spend
  • !ledger: see a list of the latest transactions against your account
  • !scoreboard: see a list of the top performing campaigns

Adbot is human monitored. Euphoria's values and code of conduct are in force at all times. Don't hesitate to ask for help, and have fun!
