To build the library (libdaetk.a) you need to set the following
environment variables:

DAETK_DIR
DAETK_ARCH
PETSC_DIR
PETSC_ARCH

For example:

setenv DAETK_DIR ${HOME}/src/daetk
setenv DAETK_ARCH linux
setenv PETSC_DIR ${HOME}/src/petsc
setenv PETSC_ARCH linux-gnu-c-debug

You can then build daetk by typing make. You may also want to build pdetk with 'cd pdetk; make'.

The various compilation parameters can be set in config/${DAETK_ARCH} if
you want to change from the options I include or add support for a new
compiler/OS. Since different compilers have different ways of building
archives there is also a config/${DAETK_ARCH}.archive file to specify the
make rule for building an archive. If you have an optimized
scientific library with BLAS and LAPACK routines you will likely want
to copy the linux config files as they don't indlude sample
implementations of the LAPACK routines and their dependencies.

To build an application it will likely be helpful to download the example in
daeExamples.tar.gz first and compile it with your enivironment configured as
above. If you have something like

~/myCode/daetk

then try

cd ~/myCode
tar xzvf daeExamples.tar.gz
cd daeExamples/rich/1d/sand
make
driver
