Layer discoverability
RSDB data layers can be retrieved by id, by name and by tags.
The layer id is the primary identification of a RSDB data layer. The allowed characters are restricted to:
0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz_
The name does not have restrictions on the allowed characters. It is a complement of the layer ID for better human readability.
The layers in RSDB can be organised by tags that are associated to layers. Tags can be hierarchical with /
as hierarchy separator:
forest
simple_tag
europe/germany
main_categrory_A/sub_category_Z/tag_C
On the RSDB web interface at the LAYERS
tab all RSDB layers can be listed.
Available layers can be filtered by tags including tag hierarchies. When selecting multiple tags, applicable layers need to contain all the selected tags.
At the search
box parts of layer id or name or tag can be typed to filter available layers.
On the RSDB web interface at the EXPLORER
tab the extent of all RSDB layers with valid coordinate reference system are shown at the word map.
The available layers can be filtered as described at the 'Layer retrieval by textual representation' section.
A mouse click at the map opens a list of all layers at that location.
