Note on inclusive language: EvaP uses the middle dot for designations of persons in German translations, such as "Dozent·in" (lecturer).

People

  • Any person using the system at any time is called a user/Benutzer.
  • Responsible for the evaluation system are the users who are a manager/Manager. They work as administrators of the system and have full edit rights for users, courses, questionnaires, ...
  • A user supporting the managers during the text answer review process is called reviewer/Reviewer. These users can access all detailed results and text answers, but cannot edit anything else and cannot access e.g. user profiles.
  • All users for whom questions are asked in an evaluation (lecturers, tutors, etc.) are called contributors/Mitwirkende.
  • Each course has at least one responsible person/Verantwortlicher. This role is assigned on import or manually by the managers.
  • Every contributor can get assigned edit rights/Bearbeitungsrechte for an evaluation by any person who already has these edit rights for this very evaluation and thereby becomes an editor/Bearbeiter. The responsible persons always have edit rights for all evaluations in the courses they are responsible for. Editors can add and remove contributors to/from the evaluation, assign questionnaires, and change the evaluation data.
  • Delegates/Stellvertreter are users who are assigned to other users. A delegate has the combined edit rights for evaluations of all users he or she is representing.
  • CC-Users/CC-Benutzer are users who are receiving a copy of all emails that are sent to their CC'ing users/in CC setzende Benutzer.
  • A student/Student is a person participating in an evaluation.
  • Students who can participate in an evaluation are called participants/Teilnehmende of that evaluation.
  • Students who voted in the evaluation are called voters/Abstimmende.
  • Participants who did not yet vote in the evaluation are called due participants/ausstehende Teilnehmende.
  • Users without credentials need a login key/Anmeldeschlüssel to log in. Those users are called external users/externe Benutzer.
  • Users who can upload grade documents are grade publishers/Notenveröffentlicher·innen.
  • User accounts which are representing groups of users (e.g., distribution lists) are proxy users/Proxy-Accounts.

Semester

  • A semester/Semester describes a period in which courses can take place. It only has a name but no specified dates.
  • There is always one active semester/aktives Semester, which is the semester which was created last. It's used for filtering those courses, which are currently of interest.

Courses and Evaluations

  • Every single teaching instance is called a course/Veranstaltung.
  • A course is placed in a semester.
  • Amongst others, courses consist of:
    • A course name/Veranstaltungsname.
    • A course type/Veranstaltungstyp decribing the kind of course (e.g., lecture, seminar, project).
    • One or several programs/Studiengänge (i.e. "Bachelor Computer Science" or "Master Data Engineering").
    • One or several responsibles/Verantwortliche.
  • Each course can have several evaluations/Evaluierungen. These consist of:
    • An evaluation name/Evaluierungsname, which can be empty. The displayed name for an evaluation is the combination of the course's name and the evaluation name.
    • An evaluation period/Evaluierungszeitraum in which the evaluation takes place
    • Questionnaires that are assigned to the evaluation (see below).
    • The current state/Zustand of the evaluation (see Evaluation States).
  • A special type of evaluation are the single results/Einzelergebnisse. They are never open for evaluation, have no participants, and a single grading question, to which the answer counts are entered manually by the managers.

Questionnaires

  • Each questionnaire/Fragebogen has a name/Name by which it can be referenced.
  • A questionnaire consists of one or multiple questions/Fragen.
  • To submit a questionnaire during the evaluation process each question must have exactly one answer/Antwort.
  • An answer can either be given on a Likert scale/Likert-Skala, a Bipolar scale/Bipolare Skala, a grading scale/Noten-Skala, as yes/no answer/Ja-nein-Antwort, or in a free text field/Freitext-Feld.
  • A possible answer is also rating no answer/keine Angabe respectively submitting an empty text field.
  • Questionnaires have a questionnaire type/Fragebogentyp defining whether it's used to evaluate contributors (contributor questionnaire/Fragebogen zu Mitwirkenden) or courses (general questionnaire/allgemeiner Fragebogen). General questionnaires can be placed above (top questionnaire/obenstehender Fragebogen) or below (bottom questionnaire/untenstehender Fragebogen) the contributor questionnaires.

Data

  • The information which courses are taught, what name, type, degree and responsible person they have and which students are enrolled in them is called enrollment data/Belegungsdaten.

Rewards

  • Students can get reward points/Belohnungspunkte, when they submit their evaluations.
  • Reward points are granted/werden vergeben and can be redeemed/können eingelöst werden.
  • They can be redeemed for Reward Point Redemption Events/Veranstaltungen zum Einlösen von Belohnungspunkten, which are created by staff users.
