Part of the Motoko FFI exploration.
The goal is to see if we can support building the RTS outside of the Nix environment with relatively few system dependencies. This would enable something similar to Canpack for the Motoko compiler.
My tentative conclusion is that due to the number of system-level dependencies required for this to work, asking developers to install Nix would be an overall cleaner way to manage build dependencies rather than also providing a separate build process. Curious to hear any additional opinions on this.
