Cool! This sounds like an ambitious project, however, I'm assuming that (at least) one of you already has database programming experience by your choice of using Java + SQL instead of node + mongodb, so perhaps that experience makes the project easier. I'm worried that only one of you will be able to comprehend / work on the backend. The project requirements do specify using node.js as the server framework, and one of the reasons for this is to help ensure that everyone has a basis for understanding what the final backend is doing and that everyone is able to potentially contribute. Do more than one of you have Java server chops? I don't know much about Chrome extensions, but I quickly glanced through the intro tutorial (https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/mv3/getstarted/) and it seems pretty doable. One question before you begin would be whether or not we can install the extension without going through the Chrome store. Here are some instructions I found: https://lifehacker.com/how-you-can-still-download-chrome-extensions-without-us-1826796797 ... but it's worth checking if these still work or if more recent instructions are available. If those instructions don't work, can you get an extension into the store in time to let install it for purposes of grading your project? Keep me posted! Maybe it's worth starting a conversation in Discord in your group channel about this, just ping me there. |
