Configuring the launcher
When you start the launcher for the first time you will be sent to the settings-page.
If you already used the program before, you might start on the login page. If that is the case, press the settings button to get to the settings page again.
First thing you'll need to do is location where your game client executable is. You do this by clicking on the empty space below Path to Game
.
By default this will open the C:\ArcheAge\Working\Bin32\
folder on your PC. This is however NOT the location we want to use.
Instead, locate where the game client you want to use is actually installed. And select that one.
Next you will need to tell the launcher type of authentication the select client will use. You can change this by clicking on button below the game path location.
Currently supported authentication types are:
- MailRu 1.0 (-r) - Use this for Russian client versions before 1.2
- Trion 1.2 (-t) - Default - This should work for NA/EU client versions between 1.2 and 2.9
You will also need to provide the server address or IP of the AAEmu login server you want to connect to. If you are just using it to test your own local server, you can leave this at the default 127.0.0.1. If you want to connect to another server, consult that server's owner for the informarion you need to put here
Also note that you can also provide a custom port number here if the server requires a non-default port of 1237
These are the only settings that need to be set up that are required. Below is a explanation of what the other settings do on the middle/right of the setup page.
When checked, Save Credentials
will make it so the launcher will save your used usernames and password you used to launch a game with. Only the password of the last used username is saved. (do keep in mind that passwords are stored in plaintext as of this time, which is in a way a security risk)
When checked, Update Locale
will update your game's system.cfg
to the specified language.
Click the flag-icon on the right of it to change language you want the game to start in. Even if not checked, this language setting will be used for the splash-screen when using Trion 1.2 Auth (-t)
, but will not change any language settings you may have already set up in-game.
Setting this to a language that isn't supported by the client you are starting, will usually result in the game starting in it's default Korean. There is also a possibility that you will get "Failed to load commands." error.
When checked, Hide Splash Screen
will do exactly what you expect it will do. It will make it so the game client won't show the splash-screen when it's starting. This has no effect on startup times, so there isn't really any use of putting this option on unless you really hate splash-screens.
When checked, Skip Intro
will make the game client skip the intro movie you get the first time you run the game. This will not skip the intro splash screens of the game itself like the XLGames/MailRu/Trion logos. This option is only useful after you have deleted your settings for troubleshooting. It doesn't hurt to leave it on however.
When checked, Allow updates
will do exactly that. It will allow the launcher to check for and install updates.
By default this is grayed out however and is only enabled if you starting the launcher from a configuration file provided by your game server host, or launching it directly from your game server's website. Even if a custom configuration file is provided by your game server host. This feature might not be enabled. Please consult the server admin for more information.
When everything is set up you can press the save button and proceed to Launching the Game
