Since the original design, more and more information has been added to the infoPane view. With the introduction of having to download extra Platforms/Runtimes as well now, the side view was getting over whelmed with data, with sometimes the user not even knowing they would have to open up the sideview to get more information and to download platforms.
The main window has now been split with a Navigation(Split)View with the list of Xcodes taking up a smaller portion of the window. A much larger detail space is now always open, where you can find the list of Platforms easily downloadable and more prominent.
