This will be a small guide on how to create text-based core shaders for Minecraft. I couldn't find any sources on how to do this, so I thought I'd create my own.
Now, what am I even talking about?
Things like this:
You probably know what a Minecraft shader is, and you've probably used them before, whether it be with Optifine or Iris, and they're pretty cool. However, a core shader is created in a vanilla Minecraft resource pack. This has been available since 1.17, but not many people know about them or how to use them. There have been incredible creations made by people like onnowhere and ValintCsala, and a lot of resources for making shaders.
If you know GLSL or have experience making other types of shaders, then this probably isn't for you. I don't know too much about this topic, but I'm very interested in text shaders and there isn't any information about how these work.
Before starting, let me just plug my chat plugin for Spigot servers, RoseChat, useful if you want to control how text shaders are used on a server. 🌹
