This PR upgrades the Swift version of the codebase from Swift 2 to Swift 5.
There is an additional change from using HTTP to HTTPS when accessing the API from the login screen that warrants review. I was unable to login when accessing the API via HTTP but succeeded when using HTTPS; I don't know if this change has broader implications.
