Ms Pac-man was a modified arcade video game of the original Pac-man produced by Midway, which was established as an unauthorized sequel to it. It was released in North America the January 13th of 1982 and in Japan the October 19th of the same year. ###Genre The games is a 2D maze video game which has 255 playable stages, being the round 256 a glitched level that makes the game to crash. Through these levels the player will get score by eating the white dots of the map, fruits and the ghosts (being an option after eating a big dot). ###Technical profile The video game arcade had a vertically-oriented display with a resolution of 224x288 and 16 palette colors and used a ZiLOG Z80 (CPU). For the sound it hold a Namco WSG, a three channel mono. ###Story behind the game Ms. Pac-Man was originally conceived as an enhancement kit for Pac-Man called Crazy Otto, created by programmers employed at the General Computer Corporation.
After the game became wildly popular, Midway and GCC undertook a brief legal battle concerning royalties. The Killer List of Videogames notes that the game was accomplished without Namco's consent, causing both companies to eventually turn over the rights to Namco. Ms. Pac-Man was reportedly the first in a series of unauthorized sequels that eventually led to the termination of the licensing agreement between Namco and Midway. ###Versions Ms. Pac-man had multiple versions for lots of consoles. In example, it had a version for the Sega Genesis, the Master System, different Atari home systems and so on. It also was ported to some video game anthologies.
