SafeSpeak is an AI-powered Chrome extension designed to detect, report, and combat online harassment and gender-based abuse on social media and other digital platforms. Built with Google AI technologies, SafeSpeak provides real-time protection and support for women and girls online, aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) to eliminate violence against women and foster gender equality.
SafeSpeak uses Google Gemini’s Natural Language Processing (NLP) to detect harmful language patterns across social media platforms, flagging or blocking offensive messages in real time.
The extension analyzes user sentiment and emotional impact, helping to identify distress indicators and providing links to supportive mental health resources.
Users can personalize their protection levels with filters for abusive language, automated account blocking, and harmful content management. Google AI Edge ensures privacy by operating these features on-device.
Interactive learning modules offer tips on digital safety and cybersecurity, empowering users with skills to navigate online spaces confidently.
