Welcome to the OpenJVS Wiki. This will act as the central place for all information about the OpenJVS project and everything that goes along with it!

About

OpenJVS is a software emulator for the JVS I/O boards that are found in many popular arcade machines and games from around the year 2000. Using map files, OpenJVS can be setup to emulate a host of different I/O board configurations which can support a range of different controllers including keyboards, mice, aimtraks, playstation controllers, joysticks and many more!

Linux is currently the only supported operating system that OpenJVS runs on, and is normally tested on a Debian distribution. The aim of the project is to have a Raspberry Pi acting as the hub for converting the controller signals into signals that your arcade motherboard will understand.

OpenJVS is fully compatible with the Sega Naomi using a £5 RS485 USB dongle that can be purchased online. It is also compatible with other systems such as the Sega Lindbergh however this requires a more complex Arduino based board to run the sense line.

I am currently in big need of testers of this software for different arcade systems and controllers, so please feel free to contact me if you would like to help the project!
