Identification context: an eco-village in France. The misalignment was observed during an experiment carried out as part of a doctoral study (4 months of observations).

Observed technical system: life cycle assessment software (openLCA)

Misalignment observed: complexity of the software (content, use) vs democratisation of environmental knowledge to act for the ecological transition.

Complexity of the software: the concepts used in the software are included in standards 14040 and 14044.

Democratisation of environmental knowledge: sustainable transition is an emergency to avoid the uninhabitability of the planet. Therefore, knowledge about environmental impacts should be accessible and decision support software should be open systems, understandable for non-experts.
