- Click on the Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > backup
- Click next and select the Back up files and settings.
- Select what to backup from the options listed.
- Choose where to back up the files and name it.
- *back up sizes will vary.*
- For machines with less than 2GB of RAM download the 32bit version of Ubuntu and later systems can download 64bit version here. (http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop)
- Go to www.pendrivelinux.com/downloads/Universal-USB-Installer and download the universal usb installer and place it somewhere convenient.
- Run the program and select Ubuntu from the dropdown menu.
- Select your Ubuntu .iso file you have saved from earlier.
- Select the flash drive you will be installing Ubuntu on and hit the create button.
- Safely eject the USB drive and plug the USB drive into the new machine you will be installing Ubuntu on.
