Virtue Changes #1161
Conversation
im not sure about the wall busting unfortunately; it's a pain in the ass to rebuild walls as is. edit: maybe as a trait given to WW and a bandit class, but having it inherently to the giant one, which is effectively free, in a codebase where rebuilding things is both locked behind skill gates and is a nontrivial pain in the ass to gather the resources for is gonna lead to bad vibes. consider; there are two glass windows infront of the church. any time those are broken they're borderline permanently broken half the time, and the other half someone eventually finds the one person who can put a wall down at least. times when the vault explodes or the keep suffers noteable structural damage is only solved by a round restart. |
good changes |
I must confess, I’m probably the only person who will miss the rich virtue, as I used it to be able to pay mercenaries to do stupid shit. That being said. This is definitely the right choice, as it both consolidates, and makes the virtues, well, feel less like nothing burgers |
Good chance to fix the fact that Acrobatic lies about what it does Either, by actually making it allow you to jump further, or, fixing its text to say what it actually does (Letting you aim running leaps without overshoot, and, prevent 1-level of fall damage) |
Rich removed? Damn. |
seconding that rich should probably stay atomized |
Also chiming in as a lover of rich, would love for it to stay its own thing for funs. Also the charge seems interesting though as already said, breaking walls with it is a bit much, walls are a pain to replace, and we already don't have a proper way to view if a wall is partly damaged, or a way to repair damaged but non-broken walls. busting down windows and doors would be much cooler in my eyes. And less, you know cool-aid man. |

Gave Nobility Virtue:
|
any chance of giving devout a patron-specific psycross stashed, unless you worship the eccentrical. both weapon virtues (swordsman) and (toxophite) could honestly use a minimal cap of apprentice so they don't need to grind for training if they spawn with no swordsmanship/archery skill, saves them from needing to grind at all when they went out of their way for a free rapier/bow already. arsonist could use the alchemy skill minimally required to make more firebombs, plus a lump of coal in their stash for a furnace to make a stove for more. (and to remind them of what the experience of being hit with a firebomb feels like) |
About The Pull Request
Quick list:
Impervious removed
Not the trait, but the Virtue. Combatmaxxing should be left to statpacks, and it's anything but obnoxious to deal with from what I've gathered.
Rich removed
Pouch by itself has been moved to noble. Nobility just gets a free rich pouch, now. Rich virtue itself has been buffed and changed to "Rich and Shrewd" (read below)
Learned removed
Linguist removed
Both have been combined into the Intellectual virtue (read below)
Nobility is visible to everyone, gets the Rich pouch and a stashed ornate heirloom necklace:
Light Steps gives 3 levels of sneak up to Legendary, you sneak noticeably quicker:
NO LIGHT STEP
WITH LIGHT STEP
Beautiful gets good lover. Go get 'em, you pretty/handsome/good-looking slut.
Giant gets a buff to charges and can smash down wooden walls (not doors):
Doing this gives massive armor / chest damage, and will take 2 charges minimum.
Crafter gets skincraft and smelting
Added Intellectual Virtue (3 Languages + 1 INT + stashed quill / feather / book)
Added Performer (free instrument + 3 music + good lover + nutcracker)
It's just a copy from Adds Loadout instrument #1124 as a Virtue.
Guarded will now always lie (Anyone that examines a Guarded person will ALWAYS see them as weaker)
Guarded is more difficult to Feint, and can Feint others more easily.
Added Rich and Shrewd:
Why It's Good For The Game
The overall intention was to make Virtues click into a specific niche of a character definition and boost it in a way that would define a character or make it more fun to fulfill whatever fantasy it may be. It's a lot of changes, and as always, my game sense isn't the best. Use your best judgement!
