@whannah1 ,Thanks for simplifying the MMF1 compset without explicit reference to CMIP6.
With this, there is no need to distinguish the config option in config_component.xml between CMIP6-MMF1 and CMIP6-others. But for reference, had CMIP6-MMF1 been kept, this negative look around would be able to exclude CMIP6-MMF1 from CMIP6-.+ (such as CMIP6-GHG) for the pattern matching: _EAM%CMIP6-((?!MMF1).)*_ELM .
