I would like to keep it because our daework3 workstation runs Ubuntu 20.04. So far it didn't introduce additional work, right?

Ah I was not aware that the DAE workstation is using Ubuntu 20.04. I shortly discussed with @sanathkeshav and tesing 3 Ubuntu versions is in general an overkill for a small project like FANS. It is not about additional work here, but about keeping the CI as lean as possible. But I leave the decision to @sanathkeshav

I completely agree and understand that this is clunky... but let's leave it in for the moment following @siggmo 's comment
