Is xtensor unmaintained?

Hi everyone,

I've been quite a happy user of xtensor for some of the radio astronomy data processing tools I've been involved in. However, I notice that there's no development anymore going on, and I've opened some pull requests here and on another xtensor repo to fix some simple compiler warnings, but I don't get a response. Does xtensor still have a future or have people moved elsewhere?

@aroffringa Same. Would be good if the maintainers let us know, so other maintainers could step up.

Hi there,

Sorry for the very late reply. Currently the original developers are not funded anymore to work on xtensor, and we have very few time to work on xtensor on our free time.
QuantStack have funded someone at CMAP (the Math department at Ecole Polytechnique) to work on xtensor, he should initially start in november but he will finally start in January. I'll try to make a better job at reviewing PRs. In the meantime, if someone wants to become a mainteiner, please let me know, that's something I have to discuss with the other maintainers.

Thanks for the reply! While you are at it, could you have a look at #2781 ? I think it's a very non-controversial improvement.
Since we use xtensor extensively, we'll consider contributing a maintainer to xtensor, maybe @mnijhuis-tos. We'll follow up on this.
(To clarify: @aroffringa, @mnijhuis-tos and I are on the same team, we use xtensor in our project DP3.)

I'll rebase it to have the CI run on it and then merge it.

That would be awesome! That's really cool to see xtensor used for LOFAR!
