right click and paste no longer working windows 10 desktop client

right click and paste should paste contents of clipboard
right click and paste presently does nothing

issue confirmed on multiple installs (other users)

I first noticed this when the RMB menu changed to a rounded white box.
All menu options (Cut, Copy, Paste and Select All) don't work in typing area. RMB Copy works fine in message area.
