Dear Sir,
I am very interesting with your ideas to make open BVM machine.
Currently, I try to realize your Open BVM by printed your STL data...Done.
I have a problem for Assy Planetary gear. To make Assembled I cut (as a picture)..
Cut_Planetary
Cut_Planetary-2
Question:

  1. How do you assemble the planetary gear?
  2. After Cuted, stepper motor can not rotated the planetary gear due to un-smooth moving. Is there any idea for improve the mechanism of planetary gear?.
  3. Is there any video for open BVM as your progress for current condition?

I am waiting your advise & direction.

Thanks
Best Regards

Hi, the planetary gears are print-in-place, i.e. each planetary gear module is designed to be printed as a single item. This requires a well tuned 3D printer. You need a gap tolerance of about 0.1-0.15mm for it to work. Have a look on Makers Muse on youtube for details on printing at fine tolerances. If you are having trouble with over-extrusion you may have to adjust flow in your filament settings. The planetary gear module is a bit of a puzzle to assemble, but you have to install the stepper onto its mounting plate first - because the screws are on the inside - then each plate uses 3 cap screws to attach to the adjacent plate. I did shoot some video but didn't upload as I had to get back to paid work. This was a very time consuming project to develop.

Thanks for reply & direction, I will try to find out & study from Makers Muse (I know him on You Tube...I also already follow him on You Tube Channel). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnJBpCWf9Mc
This is challenging to make good 3D printing of Planetary gear result.
Anyway do you have any plan for uploading video?, I think if there are some video it will be make it easy to understand what are you thinking & your goal.
Sorry for interrupting your busy time.
Thanks
Best Regard
