I will do this next, I am considering both osmdroid or mapsforge as replacement for Google Maps API. An advantage for osmdroid could be possible later offline maps support. Any opinions on that?

i'm currently having a look into osm mapbox as a replacement for google-maps. it would be good to use the same service as they will have the same results when it comes to geocoding etc.
