We are currently pinned to numpy v1: https://github.com/vitessce/vitessce-python/blob/main/pyproject.toml#L35

This change was made due to dependency conflicts with ome_zarr/skimage: #349

Numpy v2 is now supported in ome_zarr: ome/ome-zarr-py#391
The scikit image issues also appear to have been resolved in the last release: scikit-image/scikit-image#7414
