Need to better understand the middleware magic

This is a fab project - thank you for that.

I do have a couple of questions about the middleware magic that happens under the hood. I created a base for a multitenant app in NextJS here and i was trying to get the following file structure:

I was not able to solve a couple of things in the way that I put together the middleware yet:

• When I do not have the subdomain specified I shouldn't show the page to my user, I should route him to a 404. How should I do that?
• If the user tries to go home-guides from the main page he shouldn't be able to, but he is.

Anyone could help me with the middleware?
