focuselement works on Android but not iPhone/iPad, etc.

Hi, first of all, thank you for this great set of tools. They work great for my project.
I have a modal window that pops up when a user clicks a search icon. I have focuselement set to target the form input.

On Android, it focuses on the input and opens the Android keyboard but this does not work the same way on my iPad or iPhone.

Does anyone know what might be causing this issue?
