addon, sensor, component ? #1
Comments
Hi @uzelac I feel your frustration with Philips - they've given up on Dynalite it seems (or maybe they don't even know they own it?) I haven't maintained the addon for a long time - I'm only really maintaining this component, which in itself is sort of a fake sensor to be a bridge between the 485 Dynalite world and MQTT. The addon would introduce a little additional server load that can be avoided by staying "in the Home Assistant ecosystem" with this component. Did you get this component working, or are you still using the addon? |
Not sure if they have given up, to be honest I think they are still on it, lots of new devices emerged in past 1-2 years. They changed name to Signify, maybe they plan some big restart ? :) In regard to my installation, i got component to work, yes, works great. Peace of cake with your latest read.me. Would be great to have channels, that is all that is important and left to integrate. Once again, thank you so much. |
First, great work, connecting dynalite to home automation app as hass.io is one of things on my bucket list.
I'm really satisfied with Dynalite, and extremly unsatisfied with Philips (signify ??)
In regard to connection, i'm having trouble figuring what is best way, addon or sensor.
After few hours of fighting, i managed to install dynalite addon, the one you call "MQTT gateway for PhilipsDynalite" and it worked! Kind of Eureka moment! 👍
To make it work I had to tweak it a bit (insert arch description) fix areas/presets, bit of hassle with MQTT but as soon as all was configured OK it worked.
Lights would show up in hass.io after i use them on regular keypads, pretty great, all showed up.
Now you've updated this sensor version and I made it work. No seperate MQTT, so bit easier.
Still, would like to know what is the difference between addon and sensor ?
Why is one better than other, if.
Thank you very much, looking forward for you to implement channels 👍
